FLORIDA LOTTO® DREAMS COME TRUE FOR $47 MILLION JACKPOT WINNER
TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Lottery announces that Germana Sodre, 47, of Hollywood, claimed the $47 million FLORIDA LOTTO® jackpot from the drawing held on May 21, 2014. Sodre chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $30, 863, 975.44.
Sodre, who often plays FLORIDA LOTTO and FANTASY 5®, said she had a dream about winning and purchased her ticket the day of the drawing. She put the ticket in her purse and forgot about it until a week later. "I got on the Florida Lottery's website to check the winning numbers and couldn't believe what I saw, so I called my husband and had him check them as well, " said Sodre. "I was so excited when he confirmed that all the numbers matched, and I haven't been able to sleep since."
Sodre purchased her jackpot-winning ticket at Stop N Shop, located at 2960 Taft Street in Hollywood. The retailer received a bonus commission of $180, 000 for selling the jackpot-winning FLORIDA LOTTO ticket. Total ticket sales for this jackpot generated more than $44 million for Florida¿s students and schools.
The next FLORIDA LOTTO drawing will be Saturday, May 31, at 11:15 p.m. ET, with a $4 million jackpot. FLORIDA LOTTO drawings are broadcast on 17 carrier stations throughout the state. Drawings are also available for viewing on the Florida Lottery website. Winning numbers are available on the Lottery website, at retailers statewide and by phone at (850) 921-PLAY.
